supplement market growth driving Pilulka's strategic pivot
Pilulka is one of the largest online pharmacy groups in Central Europe, operating in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. With ambitions to move beyond selling medicine and become a full digital health platform centered on prevention, longevity, and proactive healthcare, they needed more than a new brand promise — they needed the data infrastructure to back it up.

supplement market growth driving Pilulka's strategic pivot
Pilulka has built its reputation as a trusted, customer-first pharmacy platform across Central Europe. Their catalog spans thousands of products — from prescription-adjacent OTC medicines to a rapidly growing range of food supplements and health products. With a large and loyal customer base and strong brand recognition, Pilulka was well positioned to lead the region's shift toward preventive healthcare. The challenge wasn't ambition — it was execution at scale.

The supplement market is notoriously complex. As Pilulka's CMO Jiří Caudr put it: customers often end up buying just vitamin C — because they simply don't understand the offering. When a customer opens an e-shop and sees 40 product categories at once, their journey usually ends there.
Pilulka faced two fundamental problems:
Hundreds of supplement products, no clear way for customers to match their individual health goals with the right choice. Standard e-commerce filters weren't enough — they spoke in product parameters, not human needs.
Positioning as a health expert requires more than marketing claims. Pilulka needed an objective, science-backed system to evaluate supplement quality — and the clean, structured product data to power it.
Building this in-house, within the required timeframe, wasn't feasible.
Pilulka partnered with Boost.space to handle the data layer that makes both tools possible.
An interactive guide that walks customers through simple, human-language questions — age, lifestyle, health goals — and instantly recommends a curated, personalized product list. Instead of filters and specs, customers get answers.
An independent supplement quality rating system, developed with PhDs and biotech experts, scoring each product from A+ to D based on ingredient form, purity, raw material origin, and manufacturer transparency. Boost.space was responsible for sourcing, cleaning, and structuring the complex product data that powers every score.

The result:
A platform that could credibly claim to help customers make health decisions based on facts — not marketing.
Before
Supplement catalog overwhelming for customers — most defaulted to basic products.
No objective way to compare supplement quality across hundreds of brands.
Data sourcing and cleaning would have required massive internal resources.
Strategic transformation estimated to take far longer than the business window allowed.
After
Personalized Product Guide matches customer needs to the right products in minutes.
NutraRating system provides transparent A+ to D quality scores based on scientific criteria.
Boost.space delivered clean, structured product data at the speed the transformation required.
Full new platform proposition launched within 2 months of initial idea.
“Without such complex data work, this project would have consumed indescribably more time and human resources. In our case, it would effectively mean we would have stopped at just an idea on paper — our entire strategic transformation had to happen in a very short timeframe.”
